BOULDER, Colo.—One of the first acts of the newly elected Boulder City Council could be approval of a resolution supporting next month’s climate change summit in Copenhagen.

The resolution likely will be considered during the council’s meeting Tuesday, following the swearing-in of new council members. Boulder is sending a delegation to the U.N. summit, which starts Dec. 7.

If passed, the resolution would voice support for the conference and direct the Boulder delegation to advocate for local governments having an important role in dealing with climate change.

U.S. officials have said the international summit is like to produce a template for future action to reduce greenhouse gases rather than a binding agreement.
