COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Deluxe Corp. is closing its small-business call center in Colorado Springs and laying off the 225 employees who work there as it shifts work to its other call centers, beginning in January.
The company said Monday that another Colorado Springs center with 300 employees who handle calls from consumers for Deluxe’s Checks Unlimited check-printing unit is not affected. That unit laid off about 100 employees this year after consolidating check-printing operations in Salt Lake City and Kansas City, Mo., reflecting effects of consumers’ shift from personal checks to electronic payments.
Mark Byers, executive director of inside sales for Deluxe, says laid-off employees can apply for other positions at Deluxe.
