Police released released the description of a suspect wanted in the shooting of another man at 19th and Lawrence streets this afternoon.
The victim is in stable condition at Denver Health Medical Center, and police are not yet sure about the motive.
The suspect is described light-skinned black man or Hispanic. He is about 5 feet, 6 inches tall and wore a hoodie and jeans, Jackson said.
“We don’t know yet what they were talking about or whether this was some kind of robbery,” said Denver Police spokesman Sonny Jackson.
The victim was with his teen-aged son. After he was shot, he got back in their U-Haul van and the son raced off toward the hospital.
Police stopped the U-Haul at Broadway and 17th Street for driving erratically — blocking midday traffic for hours — and the father was taken on to the hospital in an ambulance.
