LAS VEGAS — UNLV fired coach Mike Sanford after five losing seasons, a 15-43 record and no bowl appearances.
Sanford, 54, will coach the Rebels’ final game of the season at home against San Diego State on Nov. 28. He will be paid a $225,000 buyout, under terms of a three-year contract extension the coach signed last year.
The Rebels dropped to 4-7 overall and 2-5 in the Mountain West Conference with a 45-17 loss Saturday at Air Force. UNLV is 7-32 in conference play under Sanford.
