A new parallel taxiway extension at the Durango-La Plata County Airport will be officially opened at 3 p.m. Thursday.
Landing and departing aircraft will no longer be required to taxi on the runway to access the airfield’s southern end.
The project was given priority funding under the Airport Improvement Program, which provided 95 percent of the $18 million cost.
