Bikes are nice.

But on frigid, icy mornings, they may not make for the best high-speed getaway vehicle for a bank robber.

At 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, the Liberty Savings Bank at 7575 W. Jewell Ave. in Lakewood was held up. According to bank employees, a gun-wielding man came into the bank, demanded money, took the cash and jumped on a bike to make his getaway.

Five minutes later, Lakewood police agents spotted a suspect on a bike at West Florida Avenue and South Carr Street and pulled him over. In his possession were a gun and the money.

Dion K. Morgan, 41, was taken to the Lakewood Police Department, where he was booked for investigation of armed robbery.
