Getting your player ready...

FORT COLLINS — For a team in the midst of a seven-game swoon, Colorado State players remain in surprisingly good spirits.

“We’ve had a good attitude all year,” said CSU coach Steve Fairchild on Wednesday. “The extra day (of practice Monday after a bye weekend) helped. I like what we’re doing (in practice) and eventually it will transform on the field.”

Added CSU cornerback Nick Oppenneer: “If people were to come in our locker room or go to our practice, they would never assume where we’re at.”

The Rams head to New Mexico on Saturday for their final road game.

In other news, Fairchild re-confirmed Grant Stucker will retain his starting job at quarterback. Defensive end Cory Macon has missed some practice this week following a minor fender bender last weekend but Fairchild expects him to play. Senior offensive tackle Cole Pemberton remains questionable with a sore ankle. Mark Starr and Paul Madsen, who have split time at the opposite tackle, will both play and Fairchild wants reserve Ryan Griffith to rotate in if Pemberton can’t play. CSU will likely play in front of a crowd of fewer than 20,000 on the road for the second straight game. Basketball is first in the hearts of Lobos fans and the school is hosting a tournament Friday and Saturday.
