Boulder Valley School District teachers voted to reject a contract settlement for the 2009-10 school year, according to a statement released Friday by the Colorado Education Association.
It is the second time this year teachers have voted to reject a contract. This one would have given teachers a 1 percent cost-of-living raise and full coverage of health and dental benefits.
“This year’s contract negotiations were filled with disrespect and ultimatums,” said Boulder Valley Education Association president Melissa Tingley. “In rejecting this offer again, the members are saying they refuse to be the district’s last priority.”
District spokesman Briggs Gamblin said the district will continue to operate under the 2008-09 contract. “We renew our call for independent, third-party fact-finding as provided for in the contract,” he said.
