Getting your player ready...

It’s rare for a player on the losing team to be recognized by the Big 12 as conference player of the week, but the effort turned by Colorado senior cornerback Cha’pelle Brown on Friday could not be ignored.

Today, the Big 12 named Brown the league’s co-defensive player of the week. Brown shared the honor with Texas Tech senior defensive end Brandon Sharpe.

Playing for the final time in a Colorado jersey, the 5-foot-7, 170-pound Brown recorded 11 tackles, including 10 solo, in the Buffaloes’ 28-20 home loss to Nebraska.

Two of his tackles went for losses, including a sack. Three tackles were third-down stops, including one that saved a touchdown.

On Sunday night at the Colorado’s senior banquet, Brown was voted by his teammates as CU’s most valuable player for 2009.

A native of Southern California, he finished his CU career with 257 tackles, becoming only the 20th player in school history to reach 250.
