Carmelo Anthony was named the Western Conference’s player of the month, the league announced today.
The Nuggets forward averaged a league-high 31.0 points as well as 6.0 rebounds and and 3.5 assists in the first 17 games of the season as the Nuggets started 12-5.
Anthony had 30 or more points in 11 games, 40-plus three times and his career-high 50 points Nov. 27 against the New York Knicks.
“I’m feeling better than I ever have and I’m excited about what’s ahead of us,” Anthony said in a news release. “We’ve gotten off to a good start, but this is just the beginning for us.”
Anthony was named Western Conference player of the month in March 2006 and April 2007.
