BANGKOK — The highest court in Myanmar has agreed to consider an appeal by Aung San Suu Kyi, the leader of the country’s battered democracy movement, over an 18-month extension of her longstanding house arrest, her attorney said Friday.
The decision by the Supreme Court comes after a lower court’s rejection in October and coincides with tentative signs of thawing relations between the country’s military government and Western countries.
