Denver native Shane Bertsch shot a final-round 65, moving from 50th place into a tie for 15th at the PGA qualifying event at Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach, Fla., to earn a card on the PGA Tour for 2010.

Bertsch was one of five players who began the final round outside the top-25 barrier and rallied to earn cards. He finished the six-round tournament with a 421.

• Former University of Denver golfer Katie Kempter tied for second place in the Final Qualifying Tournament at the LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla., becoming the first women’s golfer in Pioneers history to earn an LPGA Tour card.

Kempter shot a 4-under-par 68 in the final round to move up four spots and finish two strokes out of first place. She finished the tournament at 7-under 353.
