WINDSOR, Colo.—Vestas Wind Systems A/S is temporarily halting production at a Windsor blade manufacturing plant because of a slowdown in business.
Vestas spokesman Peter Kruse told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the plant’s 500 employees will remain on the job doing other activities such as training and retooling. He says employees will continue to receive salaries.
The wind industry has been hurt by tight credit markets, low natural gas prices and diminished electricity demand.
Kruse says he expects the Windsor plant to ramp up slowly next year and be at full-time production in 2011.
