Fraenzi Maegert-Kohli of Switzerland and Matthew Morison of Canada each won parallel giant slalom titles at the snowboard World Cup in Telluride.
Germany’s Amelie Kober finished second behind Maegert-Kohli on Tuesday and Canada’s Kimiko Zakreski was third. Michelle Gorgone was the best American rider among the women, finishing 11th.
It was the first of five Olympic qualification events for the discipline. There will be another PGS competition Thursday.
In the men’s final, Morison edged Austria’s Benjamin Karl and France’s Mathieu Bozzetto. Americans Justin Reiter and Chris Klug were 15th and 16th, respectively.
Poston commits to Buffs.
Kirk Poston, a 6-foot-3, 235-pound senior defensive end at St. Pius X High School in Houston, has committed to Colorado, according to , an Internet recruiting site. Poston, who recorded 13 sacks in 2009, also received offers from Georgia Tech, Arizona, Kansas State, Baylor, Duke and Houston. He is the 12th known commitment to CU for the 2010 recruiting class.
