ASPEN, Colo.—Following protests from the film industry, Pitkin County commissioners have agreed to review the permitting process for film productions in the Aspen area.
Some have complained that filming in the county is too expensive and requires too much lead time.
Production companies currently have to seek a permit 60 days before filming.
Assistant community development director Lance Clarke has agreed to talk with various stakeholders about changes.
But county commissioners are sticking by a ban on helicopter filming. They also plan to keep charging fees of up to $1,497 to process a permit, plus an hourly rate if the county must spend more than six hours of staff time on it.
