The Colorado town of Windsor has imposed a 75-day moratorium on new medical marijuana dispensaries, but the town of Dillon has defeated a proposal that would have banned them.
The Windsor Town Board approved the moratorium this week so it can draw up regulations. The moratorium allows two existing dispensaries to keep operating, but officials say six others don’t comply with existing ordinances.
Dillon already has a moratorium in place and the council already gave preliminary approval to a ban. But it was defeated Tuesday after some members noted voters statewide have approved medical marijuana.
State and local officials are struggling with how to regulate the dispensaries. The Legislature will consider statewide regulations after in convenes next year.
