LAKEWOOD, Colo.—Colorado Democrats are proposing a new law to speed up sales of abandoned houses.

Gov. Bill Ritter and several Democratic lawmakers say that lenders should be able to resell abandoned homes more quickly. A bill to be considered next session would cut the current four-month sale minimum to two months.

Ritter says the change would help get residents into abandoned houses more quickly.
