DENVER—A Colorado lawmaker wants jail time for repeat DUI offenders.
Rep. Claire Levy, a Democrat from Boulder, says too many repeat offenders are given light sentences.
She says repeat drunk drivers should see the inside of a jail cell before they are returned to the streets. She says she’ll introduce a bill when the Legislature convenes in January that would require mandatory jail time for second-time offenders.
Currently, judges have some leeway on sentencing for repeat offenders.
