Meet Denver’s next power couple.
Lannie Garrett, Denver’s best known chanteuse since 19-nevermind, is engaged to marry Dan Brogan, publisher/editor of Denver’s cityzine 5280.
He asked her to join him on the great adventure Dec. 22 in Barolo Grill — site of their second date and first kiss three years ago.
This is Garrett’s first marriage, Brogan’s second.
“I had no idea,” said Garrett. “I’ve never been married before. I’ve never been engaged before. I’ve never had a ring before. I said “yes” right away and started crying.”
Brogan said he was nervous. And what if she said no? “Well, that’s always a possibility,” he said. “If you date someone for three years and you’re still crazy about her, it’s time to take it to the next level. It’s just the right time. And I knew pretty quickly that this is where I hoped it would end up.”
They are just starting to figure out when and where they’ll finalize the deal. Maybe in September, the month they started dating in 2006. They might do it in Denver with a party, or somewhere exotic and come home for a party. And it’ll be a party. Between them, they know just about everybody in town.
“No matter where we do it, it’ll be a great party,” said Brogan.
