A Denver toddler is dead and his mother’s boyfriend is being held for investigation of murder.
Officers were called to a home in the 1300 block of S. Stuart St. Tuesday evening about a 1-year-old not breathing, Denver Police said in a news release.
First-responders found a child with “non-accidental trauma” and took the toddler to the hospital, where he died later that night.
A police investigation led to the arrest of Jacob Garcia, 31, in connection with the death of the child, police said. The release indicated Garcia is the mother’s boyfriend.
An autopsy on the baby will determine the exact cause of death, and formal charges will be determined by the Denver District Attorney’s office.
Garcia, also known as Dreamer Garcia and Jacob Gabriel Garcia, has numerous arrests for assault, menacing, stalking, burglary and trespass, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
