Kids who couldn’t stay up ’til midnight celebrated “Noon Year’s Eve” at the Children’s Museum of Denver today.
For those older folks heading out tonight to celebrate New Year’s Eve in Denver or anywhere along the Front Range, the weather will cooperate.
9NEWS Meteorologist Ashton Altieri says the only chance for precipitation in Colorado tonight will be over the mountains, where there is a slight chance for light snow. The vast majority of mountain areas will stay dry. And there is no chance for any precipitation for lower elevations.
But everyone planning to spend any extended period of time outdoor Thursday night is encouraged to dress very warmly.
Temperatures will be in the 20s as the first of two fireworks displays starts over Denver at 9 p.m. By the time the clock strikes midnight and Colorado welcomes in the New Year, temperatures will be in the upper teens. The second downtown fireworks display is set to start at midnight.
Revelers will also have some extra options to ensure a safe ride while celebrating the 2010. RTD is offering free rides on all of its services.
The New Year’s Eve free rides start at 7 p.m., and run all the way through 6 a.m. on New Year’s morning. This is the 19th straight year RTD has offered this service.
