DENVER—Thousands of revelers who gathered in downtown Denver rang in the New Year with a rousing cheer as the clock struck midnight.
The crowd began gathering chilly weather earlier in the evening to watch a fireworks show on the downtown pedestrian mall at 9 p.m. The show was followed by another at midnight.
Meanwhile, street peddlers sold flashing butterflies, roses, 2010 glasses and light sabers.
Bus and light rail service was free for the night.
