The ex-boyfriend of a missing nurse is now wanted on kidnapping charges, Brighton Police said in a news release today.

An arrest warrant has been issued for 50-year-old Dennis Gene Cox in connection with the disappearance of Julie Ann Kilgore, 48.

Police now believe Cox, Kilgore’s former fiance, took her from her home between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Her car was later found in the parking lot of a nearby shopping center.

Witnesses have come forward with reports that Kilgore and Cox were seen in metro Denver about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, the release said.

Kilgore is 5 feet, 5 inches tall, and approximately 180 pounds with blonde or light brown hair and blue eyes.

Cox is 5 feet 11 inches, 190 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He has tattoos on his neck and abdomen.

In 1998, Cox was found guilty of two misdemeanor charges. One of the victims in that case was granted a restraining order against Cox.

In 2005, he was found guilty of felony menacing.

Cox is believed to be driving a four-door 1993 Ford Taurus with Colorado license plate FFL-972.

Anyone seeing Cox or Kilgore or the car is asked to call Brighton police at (303) 655-8740 or dial 911.
