GOLDEN, Colo.—A Colorado man has pleaded guilty to dragging one of his horses through a pasture with a truck and mistreating his other animals.
John Wilmarth McCulley was arrested in June, when Jefferson County authorities seized 17 of his horses that they said were malnourished. The 44-year-old pleaded guilty Tuesday to aggravated animal cruelty and possession of a weapon by a previous offender, both felonies. He is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 26.
McCulley had faced 36 counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty.
Most of the horses seized from him had been taken once before in 2007.
