Casselman’s, a promising newcomer to the warehouse district, has one of Denver’s most gorgeous, underappreciated live rooms behind its shiny bar, and this weekend, a group of comedians is aiming to spread the word about it (and themselves, naturally). Organized by Gary Burden, who also acts as emcee, the Saturday show features stand-up from a mix of local and national headliners, including Ben Kronberg, Nathan Lund, Sam “Danger” Tallent, Melanie Karnopp, Chris Charpentier and Matt Baetz. $10-$12.
The Reverend Horton Heat knows there are always souls in need of saving, which is why the Dallas psychobilly trio has maintained a fervent fan base over its 25 years. There must be a lot of souls who need saving lately: In addition to the Rev’s 11 Colorado concerts through Jan. 17 (including Thursday at the Ogden with Deadbolt and Reno Divorce), another kind and generous man of the cloth is visiting Denver. Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, an ornery acoustic-blues act with one eye on salvation, the other on the whiskey bottle, plays the Larimer Lounge on Saturday with Tin Horn Prayer and The Widow’s Bane.
