FRESNO, Calif. — A 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck Saturday off the coast of northern California, shaking buildings near the Oregon border.
The quake hit at 4:27 p.m. PST about 22 miles from Ferndale, the U.S. Geological Survey said. No injuries were reported.
Pacific Gas & Electric Co. spokesman J.D. Guidi said power outages across Humboldt County affected about 25,000 customers. Traffic lights fell, and residents reported water, gas and sewer leaks, said Humboldt County Office of Emergency Services spokeswoman Jo Wattle.
