WASHINGTON — The State Department said that at least 66 Americans had made their way to the U.S. Embassy in Haiti for medical attention or other assistance.
State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley said that another group of about 160 Americans was at the airport, seeking a way to leave the Caribbean nation.
Crowley said Wednesday that U.S. C-130 military aircraft are expected to begin evacuating Americans in the coming hours and days.
