A lawyer for Muhammed Abu Tahir says his client has no ties to terrorism and was on his way to Hong Kong when his flight was diverted to Colorado Springs on Jan. 8 because a flight crew believed he was a danger.
Tahir is a Pakistani national who moved to the U.S. in 2000 and obtained legal residency.
On Friday, U.S. Magistrate Judge Kathleen Tafoya released Tahir on $10,000 bond and told him he cannot fly as a condition of his release.
Tahir is charged with interference with a flight crew, including an allegation he grabbed a flight attendant who was trying to get him out of the airplane bathroom. He is due back in court Feb. 2. Felisa Cardona, The Denver Post
