Getting your player ready...

Can you really get your FICO credit score raised 60 points in a single month? That kind of success is business-as-usual for Oakwood Homes’ ‘dream-makers’ Rhonda Holland and Alma Salazar, who’ll be on hand today, with a stack of pizzas, to greet buyers at Oakwood’s New Beginnings-Carson Collection sales center in Green Valley Ranch, off 48th just east of Tower at Ceylon Street.

Salazar and Holland are credit counselors for Oakwood’s Homebuyers Club, a membership-free service Oakwood provides families who have doubts about their credit, but who want to take advantage of the super values you can find on energy-efficient homes at Green Valley Ranch, and Oakwood’s other neighborhoods near Castle Rock and Loveland.

The pair can tell you all about that today…and issue you a free credit score (noon-2 p.m., if you want to know what it is before you walk out). “With single-family prices from the $120s and with the low fixed rates available now, we’re always seeing families that could be out of their apartment into a better lifestyle, but that can’t make minimum credit requirements,” says Kristen White, director of sales.

The Homebuyers Club specializes in happy endings for that (they’ve had 90 of them this year!)…such as last May, when a couple walked in, two kids in tow, who had both worked for an airline that left Denver, leaving them with a FICO score of 488. “Within a month they were up 100 points and we knew they were going to make it,” said Holland. That let Oakwood start construction on their favorite plan, a “Hawkins” from New Beginnings. They’re set for move-in this spring.

That’s in plenty of time to take advantage of the newly renewed federal tax credit for homebuyers…now expanded to buyers that have owned an older home for five consecutive of the last eight years. To qualify, buyers must close before the end of June, 2010.

When you visit today, you can see an “Emery” 3-bedroom plan, priced at just $155,840 on track for May delivery. As you head into the community on 48th/Green Valley Ranch Boulevard from Pena Boulevard, you’ll also see the new DPS Science & Technology campus taking shape, set to welcome its first students next summer. You’ll also hear about free granite-tile and laminate hardwood floors you can add to your kitchen if you buy now, before the holidays. Pizza party runs noon-2, a mile-and-a-half east of Pena (DIA freeway) Blvd. on 48th to Ceylon.
