DENVER—Colorado school administrators are ready to make their case for getting $380 million from the federal government to improve education.
The state makes its pitch Tuesday for competitive grants the Obama administration has set up to spark innovation. Colorado’s 150-page plan includes incentives for top teachers, resources focused on failing schools and sharing data across the state.
Colorado’s plan is less clear on how to evaluate teachers. That’s a stated goal of the administration, which is using the grants to coax change.
It is not clear how many states will be chosen to receive the first round of competitive grants.
