No National Western Stock Show can be called complete until the dudes drop in for the annual rodeo on snow known as the Cowboy Downhill.
Steamboat Springs will host the 36th annual race requiring card-carrying bronc busters to cowboy up on a pair of skis, with a new afternoon start time at 4 p.m. today.
The popular event started by area skiing legend Billy Kidd and six-time rodeo tour champ Larry Mahan draws more than 100 cowboys to the most unusual ski race in the nation.
Check it out: The slalom race begins at 4 p.m., followed by the main event known as the “Stampede.” Awards and a free concert featuring Reckless Kelly wrap up the big event at 5:30 p.m.
