Following their second playoff berth in three seasons, the Rockies said they were enjoying strong sales Wednesday in their first day of single-game online ticket purchasing. Single-game tickets were available, excluding opening day and the Boston Red Sox series June 22-24. Those are reserved for fans purchasing full-season and mini-season ticket packages.
“It’s a great start. We are excited and pleased with our overall online sales,” said Sue Ann McLaren, the Rockies’ vice president of ticket sales.
Specific numbers were not made available, in part, because the single-game tickets won’t be available to purchase at the Coors Field box office, King Soopers, team dugout stores and by phone until Feb. 20.
• The Rockies signed outfielder Jay Payton and catcher Paul Lo Duca to minor-league deals. Lo Duca could also be tried at first base and the outfield. . . . Several Rockies are in town this week for a season-ticket holder Fanfest, meetings and tapings of the team’s TV commercials.
