SUGAR GROVE, Ill.—Authorities say two Florida men were killed when the small plane they were in crashed in suburban Chicago.
Kane County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Pat Gengler says 32-year-old Drago Strahija of Lake Worth, Fla., and 37-year-old Gary Bradford of Hollywood, Fla., died in Saturday’s crash.
Authorities believe Bradford, who was a trained pilot, was flying the plane.
Gengler says the plane had just taken off from the Aurora airport, a few miles south of the crash scene in Sugar Grove. The plane was on its way to Denver.
Debris from the twin-engine Piper Aerostar hit a home’s garage when the plane crashed. No one inside the home was hurt.
The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the crash.
