
The Denver Nuggets know basketball. Bowling? Let’s just say they’re not too shabby when it comes to scoring strikes and spares.
Each and every one of the tall guys — along with members of the Denver Nuggets Dance Team, SuperMascot Rocky, announcer Kyle Speller and Community Ambassadors Mark Randall, Ervin Johnson and Walter Davis — laced up their bowling shoes for the sixth edition of the Nuggets Bowling Ball, a tournament held at Lucky Strike in the Denver Pavilions.
This year’s $60,000 net for the children and families served by Kroenke Sports Charities brings the cumulative total to $400,000.
A team made up of Colorado Northern Paper employees may have won, but it was the team of Craig Hospital patients that touched everyone’s hearts. Craig serves those recovering from brain or spinal cord injuries.
“Most (members) of our team were a bit challenged to knock down pins,” said Jane Marsh of the Craig Hospital Foundation, “but they loved the opportunity to play alongside everyone else. Chris “Birdman” Andersen particularly amazed our team. He gladly took pictures with everyone, then pulled up a chair and had a long conversation at the table. He made us feel so welcome.”
