Several Denver-area ministers will lead a prayer vigil and rally for immigration reform Tuesday in downtown’s Civic Center Park.
The group will gather in front of the state Capitol beginning at 4:30 p.m. The event is part of the Christian Community Development Association’s Evangelical Witness for Immigration Reform initiative, with similar events in Phoenix, Orange County, Calif., Memphis, Miami and Chicago, the group said in a statement today.
The group stated the rally would “raise awareness of the broken immigration system in the United States, to act on the biblical mandate of compassion and justice toward immigrants, and to lament that the evangelical tradition has been late to join other Christian traditions and faiths in advocating for more just immigration laws.”
