CARACAS, Venezuela — Venezuela’s vice president has resigned, citing personal reasons.
A government official said Monday that President Hugo Chavez has accepted the resignation of Ramon Carrizalez, who also served as defense minister.
Meanwhile, police fired tear gas and plastic bullets at thousands of university students Monday, breaking up a protest after Chavez’s government forced an opposition cable- TV channel off the air.
