Brand New, the Long Island, N.Y.-based act playing its makeup show at the Fillmore on Saturday, continues to sound more indie rock than pop-punk on new album “Daisy,” particularly in its use of tortured guitars and the sort of loud-quiet dynamics Modest Mouse helped popularize last decade. Little Fyodor, Denver’s own insane, theatrical answer to a Devo-Dead Kennedys art-punk hybrid, will release his latest cassette (yes, cassette) at the Walnut Room on Saturday, with fellow misfits Widow’s Bane, the Inactivists and longtime sidekick Babushka. Come prepared with equally insane commentary, as Fyodor is taping the set for possible release (or, as he puts it, “You may eventually get to hear yourself yelling out ‘Free Bird!’ “). $7. the
