GRAND FORKS, N.D.—Denver rallied from a two-goal deficit to defeat North Dakota 4-2 Saturday and remain in first place in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.
Denver (16-6-4, 12-4-4) went 4-0 this season against the fading Fighting Sioux, who have won only four of their last 14 games. UND (13-10-5, 8-9-3) remains in the second division and in danger of going on the road in the first round of the league playoffs despite being ranked fourth in the national poll.
Chris VandeVele scored twice to give UND a 2-0 lead.
The Pioneers got goals from Kyle Ostrow, Drew Shore and Joe Colborne to go up 3-0. Rhett Rakhshani added a goal in the third.
Goalie Marc Cheverie had 22 saves for the Pioneers, while Brad Eidsness had 24 for UND.
