Getting your player ready...

Mayor John Hickenlooper got to take a walk in Barbie’s heels Thursday when he changed his clothes nearly as many times as the iconic plastic fashion plate.

The mayor had to wear all sorts of business hats (and jackets and ‘jamas) as the man vying for governor tried to dress for success while whisking from event to event around Denver.

Here’s a timeline of his not-so-couture clothing capers:

6:30 a.m. Mayor arrives at Annie’s Cafe on Colfax to kick off the city’s PJ party to raise funds for the homeless initiative Denver’s Road Home, wearing the red flannel nightshirt that his mother made for him when he left home for college.

7:30 a.m. Mayor arrives at city hall, where he changes into a buttoned-down blue suit.

8:30 a.m. Mayor arrives at Colorado Convention Center for the SnowSports Industries of America Snow Show Convention, strips off the suit coat and dons a green ski jacket to hang with the cool kids.

9 a.m. Mayor departs Colorado Convention Center, takes off ski jacket and puts suit coat back on.

7:20 p.m. Mayor arrives at Residence Inn, dons red pajamas (again) for official PJ Day party.

“The only clothing missing (Thursday) was the Leaf Jacket,” said mayoral spokesman Eric Brown, referring to the leaf-covered jacket Mayor Hick wore for an Earth Day news conference.

Panzano pride.

Panzano, the Italian restaurant inside the Hotel Monaco on 17th Street, is ready for its close-up after a remodel that takes the decor from old world to this world with a contemporary design.

To celebrate the face-lift, Panzano super chef Elise Wiggins came up with a fab fundraiser to collect money for Sense of Security, my pet charity, which gives financial assistance to breast cancer patients in Colorado. SOS pays non-medical expenses so the patient can concentrate on dealing with the disease.

Here’s how you can give: Just eat there. Panzano will donate $1 per diner from Feb. 1 through 14.

• Add your own donation at the bottom of the check, and 100 percent of that money will go to SOS.

• Bid on a Wiggins-cooked five-course dinner for eight with wine cooked by Wiggins at the restaurant or your home. One hundred percent of the winning bid goes to the charity.

Parrot pages.

Sorry, critters. The phone number given to me for The Gabriel Foundation, the parrot welfare organization that uses unwanted Yellow Pages for the birds to shred, was wrong. The right number is 303-629-5900.

And because so many of you have asked, I’ll repeat the process of opting out of delivery for Dex and Yellowbook.

Go to and scroll down to the bottom of the home page; click on “select your Dex”; type in your ZIP code, which will bring you to a page asking for your address. The drop-down menu will let you select publications you want to receive or let you opt out completely.

The Yellow Book will let you opt out by going to . And to opt out of the Verizon phone book, call 800-555-4833.

The seen.

Washington Redskins-bound former Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan, who had not been spotted much at the Tech Center restaurant bearing his name, held court Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, dining with various guests.
