DENVER—Colorado conservation groups are pitching in $5,300 to the reward offered in the case of a lynx killed in January by a poacher in Summit County.
The contribution is on top of $500 from the Colorado Division of Wildlife for information leading to a conviction in the case.
The female lynx was among the first of the cats released in Colorado as part of the effort to restore lynx to the state. Wildlife officers say a signal from the cat’s radio collar indicated she was dead.
Wildlife officers didn’t find the carcass, but found evidence the lynx was killed.
Lynx are classified as threatened under state and federal law and can’t be hunted.
