AIR FORCE ACADEMY — Texas Christian’s Greg Hill and Ronnie Moss were too much for Air Force on Saturday.
Hill came off the bench to score a career-high 23 points and Moss added 18 points as Texas Christian ended a four-game losing streak with a 65-51 victory over the Falcons.
Hill scored 21 points on 3-pointers, hitting 7-of-10 shots from beyond the arc.
“As a shooter, if you get hot, you just keep shooting,” Hill said. “Coach just told me to go out and play the way I can play, and Ronnie Moss said he wanted to see the old Greg Hill from prep school. So that’s what I’ve been trying to bring.”
Moss hit 7-of-8 shots and had eight assists as the Horned Frogs (11-13, 3-6 Mountain West Conference) beat the Falcons (9-13, 1-8) for the fourth consecutive time. Air Force has lost nine of its last 11 games.
“I thought today all of our 3-point attempts were good ones and were off penetration or the extra pass,” TCU coach Jim Christian said. “Ronnie got in there and made some good decisions with the ball and, because of that, we got some good shots. When you go on the road, you’ve got to take good shots, especially against a team like Air Force.”
The Horned Frogs shot a torrid 61 percent from the field, including 11-of-22 accuracy from 3-point range. TCU outrebounded Air Force 27-20 and held the Falcons to 7-of-19 shooting beyond the arc.
“We had no energy and couldn’t defend,” Air Force coach Jeff Reynolds said. “I’ve got to do a better job of getting them to play harder and having more energy. TCU did a nice job of defending us, and you’re not going to win many games when the team shoots 61 percent on you.”
Evan Washington and Grant Parker led the Falcons with 16 and 11 points, respectively.
“We didn’t come ready to play today, and you could see that in the first five minutes of the game,” Parker said. “They don’t pressure us more than San Diego State or UNLV does. It was just a matter of us not taking care of the ball and playing sloppy.”
