COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Kyle Ostrow scored his 11th goal of the season 4:03 into overtime as second-ranked Denver beat Air Force 2-1 in men’s college hockey on Saturday.
Marc Cheverie made 45 saves for the Pioneers (14-4-4), including 14 in each period and three in overtime.
Denver’s Matt Donovan opened the scoring at 11:21 of the first period. That goal stood until Jacques Lamoureux tied it for the Falcons (12-12-6) just 29 seconds into the third period.
Pioneers’ goalie Andrew Volkening made 18 saves in the second period, but only needed eight in the third to send the game into overtime.
Despite the win, Denver lost its lead in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association when it was overtaken by St. Cloud State and Minnesota-Duluth.
