See more than 16,000 square feet of model railroad layouts and exhibits at the annual Rails in the Rockies event. It’s sponsored by the Estes Valley division chapter of the nonprofit National Model Railroad Association. Admission is $5 (ages 12 and up). The kids’ layout allows children to run model trains themselves.

The first day is a full day of coaching; the second is a “low-key jam format contest” — putting the first day’s skills to work, in non-gnar language. Fee for both days is $99, which includes coaching, day tickets, lunch, and a bunch of schwag.
