San Diego Chargers linebacker Marques Harris meant to throw a grand-opening celebration for the Palms Tanning Resort in Castle Rock late last year, but a little thing called professional football got in the way.
Now that the season is over, Harris, a franchisee with plans to open other locations, can get the party started with free tanning and giveaways Friday through Sunday at the store, 5646 Allen Way, Suite A.
Harris will be joined by his pro-athlete pals Matt McChesney and Tyler Polumbus of the Broncos, Scott Parker from the Avalanche, Chris “Birdman” Andersen of the Nuggets, the San Francisco 49ers’ Dre Bly, Bo Scaife of the Tennessee Titans, UFC fighter Brandon Schwab and fellow San Diego players Quentin Jammer and Jacques Cesaire, who will make appearances and sign autographs over the weekend.
Harris, who grew up in Grand Junction and played ball for CU-Boulder, said he chose Castle Rock for the first store because “this is where we call home.”
“It was a business decision,” Harris said. “We chose Castle Rock because we felt from Parker to Castle Rock is where the new homes and shopping centers are locating. We feel that’s where the growth will continue to be over the next 10 years.”
