COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—At least one potential buyer is making the minimum bid for one of two Colorado Springs police department helicopters grounded by budget cuts.
The helicopters were grounded in December. The city is trying to sell them on the Internet.
Sgt. Dan Lofgren says at least one buyer has met the minimum bid of $170,000 for one helicopter. He says more bids may come in before the auction ends Friday.
The police department got the two OH-58C helicopters from the Department of Defense in 1995 and used them for missions including responding to wildfires, surveillance and public safety.
