DENVER—A restaurant owner in Boulder has been indicted on federal fraud and immigration charges.
An indictment alleges 51-year-old Opas Sinprasong defrauded employees, harbored illegal aliens and violated other immigration and tax laws.
Authorities say he sponsored Thai nationals’ admission to the U.S. and employed them at his Thai and Japanese restaurants in the Boulder area. Prosecutors allege Sinprasong required the workers to pay him immigration fees, work overtime without overtime pay and enter a two-year employment contract.
Authorities also say Sinprasong filed false tax returns and immigration applications and didn’t report wages paid.
He did not immediately return a phone message seeking comment Friday.
