A man critically injured in a Sept. 21, 2007, motorcycle accident in Weld County was arrested Friday in Craig for investigation of vehicular homicide.
The man, Tyrell Kochenower, 30, was riding a motorcycle at the intersection of Weld County Roads 74 and 29 near Eaton just after midnight when the accident happened. Bethany Gibson, 21, of Greeley, who was a passenger on the motorcycle, died at the scene.
A warrant had been issued for Kochenower on Feb. 4.
Shane Scofield, spokesman for the Weld County Sheriff’s Office, said Kochenower was apprehended following a search by the Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Marshal’s Service and the Craig Police Department.
The arrest was made by a Craig police officer and Kochenower was booked into the Moffat County Jail, where his bond has been set at $100,000.
According to reports in The Steamboat Pilot at the time of the accident, Kochenower — known as “Tye” to his friends and family — suffered a severe brain injury, fractured skull and collapsed lung.
