DENVER—Lawyers for the man accused of killing Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams say authorities have withheld key evidence and they want the case dismissed.

Willie Clark is accused of shooting Williams after he left a Denver nightclub on New Year’s Day in 2007.

The evidence at issue includes a video from inside the nightclub where Williams and Clark attended a party.

Prosecutors gave it to defense lawyers on Feb. 4, 15 days before jury selection is scheduled to start later this week.

Prosecutors blamed a miscommunication between detectives for the delay but said the video has little relevance. They say it briefly shows Clark inside the club and what brand of clothing he was wearing.

No hearing has been set to consider the motion to dismiss the case.
