A Greenwood Village-based company is developing an alternative-energy airplane.
Called “The Green Flight Project,” the demonstration effort by Bye Energy aims to design and integrate an electric-hybrid propulsion system for use in light, general-aviation aircraft.
Chief executive George Bye said Thursday there have been major technology developments in intelligent power management, lithium-ion batteries and lightweight engines.
Companies that Bye Energy will work with are Vertical Power Inc., for the energy-management system; Porous Power Technologies, lithium-ion battery and separator technology; Scion Aviation, composite parts and materials; Erex Inc., battery system; and Ascent Solar Technologies Inc., thin-film photovoltaics.
