BOULDER, Colo.—A man who plead guilty in a case where authorities say he fired a gun while playing Russian roulette with his ex-girlfriend has been sentenced to three years in prison.
No one was injured in the Oct. 27 shooting but the judge who sentenced Garrett Odel Brierly says it’s the most serious case she has seen of felony menacing, the charge Brierly plead guilty to.
Brierly’s sentence was the maximum he could receive.
Investigators say Brierly and his ex-girlfriend had gotten into an argument when he allegedly put a bullet in the chamber of a revolver and pointed it at her head and then near his own head repeatedly until it went off above his head.
Brierly’s attorney said Brierly never pointed the gun at the woman and that he wasn’t playing Russian roulette.
